Black Screen / Game Won’t Launch

Sometimes players encounter startup issues where nothing happens after launching the game, or the screen remains completely black. In other cases, the "Game is launching" message may stay on screen indefinitely.

If the game client starts but then crashes with an error or attempts to send a report, try completely disabling or uninstalling the RivaTuner program. If the problem persists, follow the recommendations provided in this article.

You need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages by downloading them via the links below:

If you have a tournament anti-cheat running, disable it first.

What causes this issue most often:

  • Outdated or incorrectly installed graphics drivers.
  • Antivirus blocking the game client.
  • Conflict between Warface and third-party software (e.g., another game’s anti-cheat).
  • Corrupted game profile or client files.

If you encounter this issue, please follow these steps:

  • Make sure you have the latest graphics drivers installed:
  • Verify the game files using the launcher
    1. Launch Steam and right-click Warface in your library.
    2. Select "Properties".
    3. Go to the "Installed Files" tab.
    4. Click "Verify integrity of game files".
  • Perform a Clean Boot in Windows.
  • If you see a black screen with the "Changing Channel" message, completely delete the game profile folder located at %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\My Games\Warface. Delete all folders and files inside the Warface folder (not just the Profiles folder). Also, try sending any item from your website inventory ("Services") to the affected character.
