Connection to Server Lost
The "Connection to server lost" error indicates a data exchange issue between your computer and the game server. In most cases, this is caused by misconfigured or malfunctioning network equipment—either your home router or your Internet Service Provider's (ISP) hardware.
If an issue occurs on the game server side, we will usually post an official announcement.
If there are no active server problems, but you keep getting disconnected or kicked back to the game lobby or menu during a match, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Power cycle your network hardware to help clear data congestion on the device. If the issue persists, turn off the router completely for a few minutes.
- Try a direct connection without the router, if possible.
- Close background applications that heavily use bandwidth, such as torrent clients.
- Temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall, or uninstall them for testing.
- Turn off any VPNs or proxy software you might be running.
- Perform a Clean Boot in Windows using these instructions.
- Follow the steps below:
- Click "Start" and type cmd into the search bar.
- Right-click "Command Prompt" (cmd.exe) in the list and select "Run as administrator".
- In the window that opens, enter the following commands one by one:
- ipconfig /flushdns
- netsh winsock reset
- Restart your computer.
Please note that 3G and 4G modems do not provide the necessary stability for online gaming, even with seemingly fast speeds. When using mobile data, optimal performance cannot be guaranteed.
Furthermore, if your ISP uses NAT (Network Address Translation) or you use a proxy connection, the game client may not function correctly.
To find out if your ISP uses this technology, please contact their customer support. If you have the technical expertise, you can also check this yourself.
How to Check for NAT Manually
- Collect diagnostic files through a special utility as described here.
- Extract the archive using any compatible program and look for the traceroute log to the required server (for example, "tracert_global" or "tracert_novosibirsk").
- If you see private IP addresses at any step of the route except for the very first one, your ISP is using NAT.
The first step of the traceroute usually shows your home router. It will also display a private address, but this does not cause dropouts if the device functions properly.
Private IP addresses include the following ranges:
- 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255
- 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255
- 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255
Due to the nature of the Warface network architecture, disconnections may occur when the ISP uses carrier-grade NAT technology. However, you might not experience issues if your provider has a low network load and optimal QoS settings for gaming traffic. While this technology is beneficial for the ISP, it can sometimes interfere with game server connectivity. Note that NAT configured on a home router does not cause any problems.
If the technical features of your internet connection allow you to bypass the router, please do so. If the issue disappears with a direct connection, the root cause is the router itself. In this case, please contact a specialized service center or your ISP.
